Dieses Buch betrachtet die Rechtsprechung deutscher Gerichte zu universellen Menschenrechtsverträgen vollständig und in verschiedenen Rechtsbereichen. Auf globaler Ebene werden verschiedene Menschenrechte durch die universellen Menschenrechtsverträge gewährt. Diese werden aber oftmals von den deutschen Gerichten nicht beachtet, obgleich der EMRK seit Görgülü ein hoher Status beigemessen wird. Während sich andere Werke zum Themenkomplex oftmals nur mit den Entscheidungen über Studiengebühren beschäftigen, betrachtet die Autorin den Umgang der Rechtsprechung mit universellen Menschenrechtsverträgen im Gesamten. Hierzu zieht sie die Rechtsprechung deutscher Gerichte heran und identifiziert Grundmuster im Umgang mit universellen Menschenrechtsverträgen. Die aufgedeckten Defizite werden sodann der Behandlung der EMRK durch das BVerfG gegenübergestellt.
