Seit einigen Jahren hört man immer wieder, daß es eine «Continuous Identity Crisis» des Operations Research (OR) gibt und reale große Herausforderungen für die traditionellen OR-Forschungsmethoden bevorstehen. Die schlechte Anpassung zwischen der OR-Methodologie und der betrieblichen Praxis kann anhand von zwei hauptsächlichen OR-Ansätzen zur Formulierung und Lösung eines Entscheidungsproblems verfolgt und widergespiegelt werden: Optimierung und Simulation. Diese Arbeit stellt den Versuch dar, die Computersimulation im Zusammenhang mit experimentellen Optimum-Suchstrategien als ein wesentliches Instrument so zu verwenden, daß das Gesamtsystem die integrierte Behandlung aller drei bis jetzt nebeneinander betriebenen Techniken (formale Modellierung, Computersimulation und experimentelle Optimierung) bei der Lösung eines komplexen, stochastischen Entscheidungsproblems ermöglicht.
