Der rechtliche Schutz veröffentlichter elektronischer Datenbanken ist aufgrund ihrer wachsenden wirtschaftlichen Bedeutung zunehmend Gegenstand juristischer Diskussionen. Im Vordergrund steht dabei der zivilrechtliche Schutz; strafrechtliche Fragen wurden bislang nur am Rande erörtert. Die Arbeit zeigt die Möglichkeiten auf, veröffentlichte elektronische Datenbanken strafrechtlich zu schützen. Analysiert werden die strafrechtlichen Normen des Urheberrechtsgesetzes, insbesondere die Konsequenzen der Änderungen aufgrund der EG-Richtlinie über den rechtlichen Schutz von Datenbanken, und die einschlägigen Straftatbestände des Strafgesetzbuches. Die dabei gewonnenen Erkenntnisse sind für Datenbankhersteller wie für Datenbankanbieter gleichermaßen interessant.
