WÃ¤hrend dieses Aufenthaltes im Land seiner JugendtrÃ¤ume fiel die Entscheidung, in die Vereinigten Staaten auszuwandern. Bis zu seiner RÃ¼ckkehr und dem plÃ¶tzlichen Tod in Berlin im Jahre 1959 lebte George Grosz in der NÃ¤he von New York. Anliegen dieser Arbeit ist es, die amerikanische Schaffenszeit, die mit 27 Jahren weit mehr als ein Alterswerk umfaÃŸt, erstmals in ihrer ganzen Breite vorzustellen und vor dem Hintergrund der Exilsituation, mit der sich Grosz trotz der freiwillig erfolgten Auswanderung konfrontiert sah, sowie mit RÃ¼ckbezÃ¼gen auf das in Berlin entstandene Werk vorzustellen.
