Werthaltungen spielen in unserem Leben eine wichtige Rolle. Sie wirken steuernd und organisierend auf das Planen und Handeln ein. In dieser Arbeit wird die handlungsleitende Funktion von Werten näher untersucht. Zu diesem Zweck werden in einem heuristischen Handlungsregulationsmodell Werttheorien mit Selbstkonzepttheorien und Handlungsregulationstheorien in Beziehung gesetzt. Ausgehend von verschiedenen Werttheorien werden universelle Werte (Grundwerte) postuliert, die eine zentrale Stellung im Selbstkonzept haben und sowohl bereichs- als auch situationsübergreifend wirksam sind. In einer Fragebogenuntersuchung und im Rahmen einer Systemregulationsaufgabe wird der Einfluß dieser Grundwerte auf das Verhalten und die Handlungseffizienz analysiert.
