Inordertousetheexistingandemergingfunctionsofdistributedobjectte- nologiese?ectively,andtobettermeettoday'sdemandingbusinessandcomp- ingrequirements,advancesinsoftwareengineeringmethodsandtechniquesfor distributedobjectsarestronglyneeded. Softwareengineeringfordistributed- jectsistheresearchareathatprovidessolutionsofprovenpracticeforissuesand problemsthatareuniquetosystemsemployingdistributedobjecttechnologies. EDOis the premierworkshopthatbringstogetherthe researchandpractice communityofsoftwareengineeringfordistributedobjects. Wereceivedabout30submissionsandtheinternationalprogramcommittee selected15papers. Weclusteredacceptedpapersintosessionsandtheauthors ofthesepaperschampionedthesessionsandtookaleadinthediscussions. The workshoporganizersselectedparticularauthorstogivebriefpresentationsthat wereaimedtokicko?thediscussionineachsession.
