In der deutschen Preußen- und Aufklärungsforschung wurde der polnisch-preußische Kulturtransfer des 18. Jahrhunderts bislang kaum thematisiert. Am Beispiel des polnischen Preußenbildes in der Zeit der Aufklärung untersucht die Autorin, wie sich das gegenseitige Verhältnis angesichts der repressiven Polen-Politik des benachbarten Preußen gestaltete. Folgerichtig stehen die vergessenen bzw. vernachlässigten Interferenzen des Kulturellen mit dem Politischen im Mittelpunkt der Analyse, die sich ihrerseits auf die Korrelation zwischen der historischen Entwicklung und ihrer Deutung anhand einer bestimmten Bildproduktion konzentriert. Es zeigt sich, dass das ""ewige"" negative Preußenbild der Polen erst im Zuge der nationalen Bewegung des 19. Jahrhunderts konstituiert wurde und dass anhand des preußisch-polnischen Kulturtransfers bislang unbekannte oder vergessene Aspekte der deutsch-polnischen Geschichte herausgearbeitet werden können.
