| book description |

Gaelic translation of funny, heartwarming French bestseller Poisson-Fesse (Buttfish) about a fish that's different. Deep down he just wants to be like all the other fish. But his adventures take him to the depths of the oceans where he discovers other unusual fish, new friends, happiness and renewed self-confidence. The Gaelic title is Ton-iasg Toinisgeil. The central character is a bright pink fish. In the English version he's called Buttfish because he looks a bit like a butt. Aware he's different, he reluctantly puts up with constant teasing and being the 'butt' of his friends jokes. He desperately wants to fit in, deep down he longs to be like all the other fish. One day he decides to swim to the deepest part of the ocean and explore. Here he discovers he's not alone. There are a host of other unusual fish, including Steven, a fish shaped like a cheese wedge! The two unusual chums quickly develop a close friendship... ... and after many adventures they even become 'guardians of the open seas'. The book ends with our hero being told, that looked at from a different perspective, his 'butt' shape, also makes him look like a heart. It's a funny, heart-warming story that rightly deserves its place at the top of the French children's charts. Its message of inclusion and celebration of difference might be universal, but here they are explored in a truly endearing story. Following its success in France the book is due to be published in at least 16 other countries.
