| book description |
American artist George A. Frolic Weymouth (1936 2016) was a visionary conservationist, coachman, and accomplished painter. Like his friend and artistic mentor Andrew Wyeth, Weymouth worked chiefly in egg tempera and watercolour to create a highly personal panorama of the landscapes and people he knew in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, where he lived. Weymouth, a sixth-generation member of the du Pont family, was not only a skilful painter but also a seminal force in preserving tens of thousands of acres of picturesque scenery around the Brandywine River in Pennsylvania and Delaware. Weymouth also cofounded the Brandywine River Museum of Art, home to a distinguished collection of American art dating to the mid-nineteenth century and renowned for its holdings representing three generations of the Wyeth family of artists. Richly illustrated with Weymouth s paintings and sketches from throughout his career, this large-format volume also includes a chronology of the artist s fascinating life, illustrated with many personal and archival images.
