| book description |

Into History is an activity-based textbook scheme for children aged 7-11. The scheme has been written in response to the newly revised curriculum orders for history. The four pupils' books offer comprehensive coverage of study units within a framework of children's historical knowedge and skill development. Books 1 and 2 are written for 7- to 9-year-olds, and books 3 and 4 are intended for 9- to 11-years-olds, allowing for flexibility of use within each two-year band. The two teacher's resource books comprehensively support the teacher's knowledge of the specific study units. They provide many photocopiable resource sheets, and include correlation charts showing how the series can be used to cover the National Curriculum for History. All study units in the revised curriculum are covered in the pupils' books. These books have been written to cover the varied requirements of children studying history in school between the ages of 7 and 11. Each double-page spread has differentiated tasks, catering for the entire ability range. The tasks relate to the Social Studies section of the Environmental Studies 5-14 guidelines, where appropriate. Books 1 and 2 have a larger print size than books 3 and 4. The activities and reading level become progressively more demanding throughout the four books. This pupils' book 3 provides coverage of Britain since 1930, and local history studies since 1930.
